      Want a blog?

Feba makes available to any staff member opportunity to manage their very own blog on our corporate blogging system.

      What’s a ‘corporate blog’ then?

Corporate Blogs are blogs published by or with the support of an organization to reach that organization’s audience. Fast Facts: 40 (8%) of the Fortune 500 are blogging as at May 2006, and 13% of bloggers say that their blog is very important to them, and describe it as a big part of their life.

Have a definite view about the value of ‘corporate blogging’

Guess that means spending time thinking it through and developing your own opinion and approach! Here are some links to pages we have found that might prime your research pump:

I want one - so where do I start?

First, read and be comfortable with our blogging guidelines.

Second, think about the kinds of things you would like to include in your blog, and whether you believe you have something to say. Knowledge management is a bit slice of the blogging pie.

Third, happy to consent to our guidelines, believing you can contribute something useful, apply for your very own all new and shiny blog by emailing SamPeckham or MarkTaylor.

      Naming conventions for blogs

This is important, so work with us! Blog names will always be the full name of the staffer, and the blog description (or tag line) will be your job title. Example: John Bartlett and Chief Executive, or Sam Peckham and Web Developer, etc.

      Blog theme

To keep things simple, and professional, all our blogs use the same official Feba theme. If you have seen ‘an awesome WordPress theme’ you were hoping to use for your Feba blog - nope! So allblogs running on our WordPress MU (Multi-User) installation (http://blogs.feba.org) domain will conform to a single template. The draft design is available now, and being tweaked regularly during the beta phase.

      Security is Important

We are most concerned that existing policies regarding security and protection of ministry in senstive areas are maintained and not breached by any content on any blog. Please feel free to test this and advise Sam immediately if you notice anything that concerns you, or you have been able to breach any blog’s password protected areas. Natural, common sense caution on all postings during beta testing is assumed.
