Will It Blend? - iPhone Here is the link that did not make the transition from Blogger to WordPress:[kml_flashembed movie=”http://www.youtube.com/v/qg1ckCkm8YI&color1=11645361&color2=13619151&fs=1″>
We have removed Twitter from the sidebar for the moment, until we locate the problem that has been posting gobbledygook instead of rational updates from our travelling twits! It seems likely than one culprit is an iPhone app that is trying to be too clever by attempting to post a URL with location (ie place [...]

A few new names have been added to our beta testing group: Derek Knell, Val Rollins, and Shannon June Kittlitz. They have not started to do anything significant with their blogs yet, but we wait with baited breath. A bit longer for Val, currently on holiday.

Sam Peckham: Web Developer, Feba UK
Mark wasn’t the only one queuing on Friday for, probably the best piece of design this century. Of course I’m talking about the iPhone. Like Marks post I’m tapping this in on my iPhone using the intelligent virtual keyboard, which is constantly analysing my key taps to determine the right character and word, with very few [...]
It was recently raised in a comment to my previous post whether Tags or Categories should be encouraged, when writing and managing blogs. It then occurred to me that some of those new to blogging, and in particular Wordpress and it’s terminology, might not understand what either of these two are or their differences. So [...]
You will have noticed that your themes have all changed today, as we roll out this theme across all our current blogs. The aim, to keep a simple an uniform look and feel across all the blogs allowing you to focus on the content. We may review this template and I will certainly be making improvements [...]
What’s an ubernym? Well I could write all about this plugin and explain what it does, and everytime I mention the word I’d have to explain it. Or I could just write ubernyms. Now you can hover over the word and see a nifty javascript pop-up with the explanation in. This plugin is now available [...]
As someone behind the scenes of this new blogging culture and with my current role in Feba as Website Developer I’ll dub this particular blog the Design/Development (D2) blog. I’ll be using this space to explore the possibilities and limits of Wordpress and the MU setup. Looking specifically at securing different blogs to be ’staff [...]

John Bartlett: Chief Executive, Feba UK
In 2003 I wrote: “Nevertheless I do feel passionately that the issue of how we in the west may best strategically contribute to mission needs addressing.  There is a massive imbalance between what the churches contribute for relief and what resources are provided for evangelism. Somehow we have almost lost sight of the transformational power of the [...]
How would you spot a counterfeit revival?  Well just suppose:- A preacher is claiming something new such as receiving messages from angels. There are conflicting reports about healings, many claims but little verified. That thousands of other Christians are flocking to this revival. That something spiritually real is evident. That opinion is divided as to whether this is from God. That [...]
A famine of God’s word.   ” Kings 22-23″ (read 22: 3-13)   The passage that we have read comes from the reign of King Josiah (King of Judah 640BC-609BC) of Judah who was king from 640 BC - 609 BC.  He had come to the throne at a time when Judah’s religious life had wandered very far away [...]
Recently, a lay member of the General Synod of the Church of England submitted a private members motion for Synod to debate its position on evangelism, specifically evangelism of people from other faiths such as Islam.  To the consternation of various liberal bishops the motion received sufficient support to make it onto the provisional agenda.  [...]

Well, it was there as an option, so I did it.  Interesting how one theme was named–Contemptuous.  It was a cool, blue theme, but why contemptuous?  Maybe, like the word wicked, formerly negative adjectives are being repositioned as good.
This might prove fun–a place for the random doodling thoughts that cross the horizon of consciousness from time to time.

      Jon Hargreaves: International Ministry Director
According to CBC news, U.S. authorities now have the power to seize and detain travellers’ electronic devices, including laptops and cellphones, and make copies of their contents at an off-site location, under newly disclosed customs policies. The policy gives border agents at any point of entry into the United States the authority to also take documents, [...]
You’ve got to hand it to the Taliban, they certainly know how to work the media to further their heinous objectives. A report from the International Crisis group tells how the organisation is using a full range of media, from web-sites to mobile ‘phones, to tap into strains of Afghan nationalism and exploit policy failures [...]
“Not only do I see the potential of radio in disaster mitigation, I can see it has huge potential for community development in India,” says Saji Varghese, a World Vision manager in the emergency response unit, who was a participant of the FIRST Response workshop and trial. Radio Ungal , 98.4FM, the Tamil FM station [...]
The FIRST Response field trial participants endured a 14-hour bumpy bus ride, equipment glitches and power cuts to arrive in Nagapattinam (Tamil Nadu) at 5am on Saturday morning, a few hours later than scheduled.  They quickly set up their equipment (including attaching the antennae to a drain pipe on the roof).  The FM station was [...]
The head of the Asia-Pacific branch of the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC), Ashish Sen, says the FIRST Response training taking place in Bangalore this week is “the first step in the journey towards introducing mobile broadcasting in India for disaster management”.   He was speaking to participants on the first day of the workshop which will [...]

I managed to get two new podcasts completed and out today (see www.feba.libsyn.com) which pleased me because it has been a while since the previous one went out. Users of iTunes can also find our Casting Hope podcasts by searching for ‘ Feba ‘ in the Podcast directory. The shows are about Malawi - our [...]
About to leave Blantyre for Joburg. In typical Air Malawi organisation I needed to check in at a counter that said “lusaka” to fly to Joeys, and the flight which is meant to be via Lilongwe is now an hour late and not stopping at Lilongwe. Wonder where we will land, and if our bags [...]
One of the last items on our agenda for our gathering in Malawi has been to establish an ON AIR date for the station. There are numerous obstacles to overcome, including university exams, a new baby coming to a missionary couple, a long overdue holiday for another missionary couple! So here is what we have [...]
Two and a half days of hard-talk, prayer, and desire to make the project happen, has resulted in a revised Memorandum of Understanding between the three Ndengu Project partners (Feba, TWR and SABU/BUSA). The document was put through a final discussion and edit this morning, and signed on behalf of partners by Mark Taylor, Keith [...]
I was interested today to hear that the ‘official’ spellings have changed: what we have always spelled as Yao now needs to be rendered Yawo. In a similar way, referring to the language of the Yawo people, we now need to say CiYawo instead of the original ChiYao.

Bob Bartz: Broadcast Technology Director for Africa
One of the requirements at Radio Nuru is a tower upon which the station antenna will be mounted. Over the past several months, Paul Zimmerman has been looking for a tower around the area of Macomia. While there were several, none were found to be stable enough to purchase. Steel costs on South Africa have been [...]
A message recently received from station manager Hannington Muyenje of Power FM in Kampala requesting assistance in specifying a system to allow reporters and programmers to broadcast remotely from various locations around the country. Hannington is considering using a Comrex BlueBox system that will use a standard telephone line or cellular telephone to provide [...]
TransWorld Radio (TWR) in Africa has once again demonstrated their commitment to the Yao FM project at Ndengu in Malawi. The operation has raised an additional US$1,000 to cover the cost of moving the existing transmitter hut at the project site from its present location 60 meters away from the tower to place at the [...]
I’ve just received a message from Paul & Karen Zimmerman announcing that the governor of Cabo Del Gado province of Mozambique has approved the radio association for Radio Nuru. This has been a struggle over the past several months. The application was held up regarding a number of technicalities, not the least of which was [...]

I´d like to know the different ways that staff ‘do´ the Christian thing outside of a church context.  Do you regularly listen to devotional podcasts or do you prefer traditional notes?  How often do you listen to Christian radio and/or Christian TV?  Do you buy CDs of Christian music or download them?

Now I’m in and have my account, when I log in I go straight to my blog.  How do get to see what others are writing?  There does not appear to be any way back.
What’s the difference between tags and categories?
So much to learn! I wonder whether blogs are the answer or the best answer to my felt need! I increasingly feel I have much to say and no outlet for it.  I keep talking about writing a book, but am awed by the discomfort of sitting in front of a screen for hours and keeping the [...]
