    Skype gets better

The new beta version of Skype has been released (Version 4) and I spent time today looking at its new features, and a couple of videos they have done. Pretty nice improvements.

I like the changes they have made to the user interface, especially chat history, and providing very intuitive buttons for SMS, clicking video on and off, and toggling between showing all contacts and just live conversations.

In Feba we have quickly become accustomed to using Skype to facilitate communication and collaboration, and I think that the new Skype simply raises the standard even higher and gives us some great ways to interact without always having to pull people into the same physical location.

The look and feel of Skype 4 beta is quite different, and my first reaction was ‘oh no, what have they done to my comfort zone’ but I was up and running with the new ways in less than 5 minutes, and I bet I new things yet to discover. Remember it is a beta, so might be a little buggy, but I am counting on Skype being happy enough with it to have released it.

You can download the version 4 beta here it is 24.1MB

(Worthing staff, you might need to check with IT first)
